CCT St Nicholas at Kings Lynn Hoarding
I was commissioned to design and illustrate a construction hoarding to advertise the multimillion-Pound project to restore the Grade 1 listed St Nicholas Chapel in Kings Lynn, Norfolk to the community and visitors to the site. I worked with fellow graphic designer to create the design. The hoarding needed to be image rich, appealing strongly to the identity of the building and the spirit of the initiative in creating a beautiful space for the community celebrating Kings Lynn’s heritage. The hoarding would also need to recognise the involvement of the project’s sponsors. We created a stylised illustration of the chapel’s interior that adhered to the buildings key architectural features and included stained glass windows celebrating the activities of the construction workers. The illustration was then populated with a diverse group from the community pictured enjoying the site. Using the walls of the chapel and commemorative plaques we were able to integrate the brands of the sponsors into the image. Through this integrated approach we were able to embed the spirit of this initiative into the hoarding as a celebration of collaboration between the community and their sponsors in bringing this historic site back to life for the benefit of the community.
